2025: The Gaza War Hastens Israel’s Internal Collapse

Instead of strengthening its security, Israel is witnessing its military, economic and political structures crumble under the weight of a cynical war, prolonged by a government more concerned with its own survival than with the fate of its people.

I. The Home Front Collapses: Revolt Against Netanyahu

Nearly 1,000 Israeli Air Force reservists, including several active-duty personnel, have publicly called for an immediate end to the war in Gaza. Alongside them, 250 members of the prestigious Unit 8200 military intelligence division and three former Mossad directors have demanded an immediate change of course.

“We refuse to serve a government that sacrifices lives for its own political gain,” declared a reservist officer during a protest in Tel Aviv.

Disillusionment is so profound that over 100,000 reservists have ceased reporting for duty, nearly a quarter of the entire reserve forces – an unprecedented collapse in Israeli military history. The military, long considered a cornerstone of Israeli society, is fracturing for the first time.

Israel’s once-indefeasible military unity is now in advanced disintegration.

II. The Elite Exodus: Millionaires and Tech Brains Flee

In 2024, 1,700 Israeli millionaires fled the country, primarily relocating to Cyprus, the United Arab Emirates and Western Europe. Simultaneously, 8,300 specialists from the vital technology sector opted for exile.

GDP fell by 20% in the fourth quarter of 2023, private consumption plummeted by 27%, and corporate investments nosedived by 68%.

The brain drain destabilises not only Israel’s civil economy but also critically undermines its technological military advantage, a central pillar of its regional survival doctrine.

III. Political Implosion: Towards Civil War?

58% of Israelis fear civil war, according to a Maariv poll published in April 2025, a 12% increase compared to the previous year. Protests are multiplying across Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem, gathering hundreds of thousands.

“This government is leading us to the abyss,” summarised a protester interviewed by Channel 13.

Tensions over the controversial judicial reforms and the authoritarian handling of the war are reviving the darkest historical memories of internal strife.

Israel has entered a phase of political destabilisation where violence between citizens is no longer hypothetical but a very real threat.

IV. An Intact Adversary: The Military Failure Against Hamas

Despite months of intensive bombardments, the Israeli army admits that 75% of Hamas’s tunnel network remains operational. The Islamist organisation is now estimated to have nearly 40,000 active fighters, an increase since the conflict began.

The declared objective of eradicating Hamas grows ever more distant, highlighting the absurdity and deadlock of Israel’s military adventure.

V. Global Isolation: A Pariah on the International Stage

In the United States, negative perceptions of Israel rose from 42% to 53% between October 2023 and April 2025, according to Pew Research. In Europe, increasingly loud voices from Spain to Ireland are demanding sanctions.

The suspension of trade agreements, once unthinkable, is now under discussion in the European Parliament.

The collapse of traditional Western support and the rise of the Global South call into question Israel’s position as the “beacon of democracy” in the Middle East.

VI. Conclusion: Israel – A Downfall Orchestrated by Its Own Government

The Netanyahu government, opting for military escapism over genuine political strategy, has plunged Israel into an unprecedented existential crisis.

Abandoned by its soldiers, deserted by its elites, weakened on the world stage, Israel is now paying the price for decades of arrogance, blindness and a politics of fait accompli.

To understand the dynamics at play and to resist the fabrication of deceptive narratives, it is essential to stay informed, to disseminate the truth, and to oppose the erasure of these historic internal fractures.

The countdown to a historic transformation has begun…
